His parents arrived in Brisbane that morning. We picked them up from the hotel in the afternoon for the ceremony.
My dress is from Almost Famous. When I was choosing what to pack (in Singapore), it so happened that Wallace was planning to wear a red tie as well.
Wallace in his gowns with his parents. (And coincidentally, his mum wore red too.)
Wallace with the classmates he grew very close to during his course - Phil, Rebecca and Phoebe.
I couldn't help but feel proud of him when I saw him in his graduation gown. What a big day :)
Valedictorian, Jamie from Wallace's class.
Only managed to get 2 shots of him accepting his certificate, but his mum recorded a video. I'm proud to say I cheered for him when his name was called! (It's brave for my standards lol)
Thankfully the ceremony was short and sweet, and everyone proceeded outdoors for refreshments. They had a big white tent outside. Very thankful the weather was excellent and the ceremony was of a good timing! All the other days in that week, it rained. Some ceremonies were in the evening so it would be dark and not nice to take photos.
Sidetracking a bit, but I really liked the inside of the tent! *Ideas*
His parents looking through his certs and academic reports. Haha.
Wallace and his good pal Phil, always with drinks in their hands.
Phoebe and Phil
Me and Phoebs
From Wallace's mum's camera - with his dad and mum.
:)
Wallace with the valedictorian, Jamie.
Derek and Wally.
If my hair looks funny it's cos I braided it at the side. I did a flippy thing at the back (don't know the proper name) but the only shots I have of that are later below from his mum's camera.
Raj and Bob came to show their support! Their graduation ceremony was a few days later.
So many photos were taken that day. Here's Wallace with his group of friends.
Rebecca and Phil. He might not readily admit it most of the time but he really misses them!
He calls Rebecca a "Superwoman" because she juggles everything so well and gets excellent grades at the same time. She was the top honours student!
Last shot of us. Heh am I as tall as him in my heels?
The last time we would see his friends in a long while. :(
The campus is naturally quite big, so after a few hours, my feet couldn't take it and I took off my heels when walking back to the car. (I wanted to wear shorter ones but Wallace wanted me to wear my new Forever New heels that were uber high) I think his mum found it amusing that's why she shot this photo. I think this is the only shot I have of my hair from behind too.
Last but not least, I saw this photo in Wallace's mum's collection and I found it super funny. Can you guess what's happening? Lol.
It's not really what it looks like la. Wallace was just showing his dad the spots where he fishes in campus and his dad was bending down to get a better look.
In the evening, we had dinner at Kingsley's, a familiar name on my blog, best known for their extremely good steak and alaskan king crab. Coincidentally, when Wallace's parents and I first came to Brisbane 4 years ago to help him settle down before starting uni, we had dinner at this restaurant too. 4 years later, the 4 of us were there yet again for his graduation.
Too much food was ordered, not surprisingly. A dozen oysters, alaskan king crab legs, garlic prawns, mash, salad, mushrooms and 4 mains.
Since it was such a special occasion, Wallace's dad told Wallace to get the wagyu instead of his normal sirloin. It was pretty insane! I tasted one bite and it actually reminded me of foie gras.
The previous time I went to Kingsley's with Wallace in June this year, we were served by this waiter (whom I secretly think is cute) and he introduced James Squire beer to Wallace. That led on to a whole new chapter in Wallace's beer drinking history, but that's not the point. We chatted with the waiter quite a bit (well more of Wallace, not me), and then the next time Wallace went with his friends in November, the same waiter served them and he recognised Wallace. This time when we went, we didn't see him at first but he came by our table to say hi when he saw Wallace. He said unfortunately we weren't sitting in his section but he'd make sure to keep an eye out for us. Every now and then he'd pop by and check how we were doing. Such good service doesn't go by unnoticed, and I really really appreciated that. When we were leaving, Wallace said bye to him and when he told him he was leaving Australia for good, he (waiter) gave him (Wallace) a hug! So heartwarming :) We never knew his name before that, but afterwards we found out his name was Liam.
Anyway, that was the end of a very big day and I'm glad to have been able to record it down here. Before I forget, Merry Christmas (albeit belated) and Happy New Year everyone! Sorry for not updating very frequently the past couple of months - things have been so busy with school, then in the past month there was Brisbane, Melbourne, Phuket and the whole Christmas season. I have lots of photos in store though! Stay tuned :)
(Me suddenly remembering my Canon has more than just the auto function, like this Toy Cam one)
