I saw this really really cute
Camera Spree the other day.
All of the cameras are only 20 something dollars each and they're NOT the disposable type! Of course they're not digital la, they use film. But they're SOOOOOOO CUTE!
Credits to chasingmonkeys for the photos and info.

I think my favourites are the
Jelly Squeeze Camera (with flash) and
Underwater Camera (but it would probably leak?). I like the one with the sparkly things too but I don't think it's worth the $28. Haha what on earth is a
"*" sound, by the way???
I don't know if the quality of these cameras are good though, seeing as how they can totally pass off as toys!
Apparently these cameras (ok maybe just the 2/3/4 way cameras) belong to a type of photography called
Lomography.
Lomography
Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over - saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, "happy accidents," and alternative film processing are often considered part of the "Lomographic Technique."
Users are encouraged to take a lighthearted approach to their photography, and use these techniques to document everyday life.
Some of the brands marketed are Lomo LC-A, Diana, Holga, Holga 35mm, Fisheye, Fisheye2.
Most Lomographic cameras are designed to produce a single photographic effect. For example, the Lomography Fisheye camera features a built-in wide angle lens, and shoots fisheye-distorted photos. Its' light weight also makes it possible for people to bring it along wherever they go and to capture random moments of their lives to be documented in personal scrapbooks or on blogs/personal websites. It is a light-hearted form of photography as compared to professional photography per say, which appeals to people of all ages who are just looking for some much deserved fun! Here are the
10 Golden Rules of Lomography from Lomography.com:
- Take your camera everywhere you go.
- Use it any time – day and night.
- Lomography is not an interference in your life, but part of it.
- Try the shot from the hip.
- Approach the objects of your Lomographic desire as close as possible.
- Don’t think. (William Firebrace)
- Be fast.
- You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film.
- Afterwards either.
- Don’t worry about any rules
Of course points 8 & 9 can be a bit hard to follow since the film and developing of film actually costs some money.. Lol
Here's an interesting video about Lomography from
Lomografix.
Lomografix is an online shopping website based in Singapore that sells cameras and accessories for lomographers at affordable prices. They have pre-orders and sprees for certain cameras and they also have some tutorials on how to use these cameras. Pretty useful! I think the
Fisheye Cameras and the
Holga ones are really cool, but also quite expensive! I absolutley love the
Cross Process and Coloured Flash effects!
Pssst! Jon and Kegan, you should TOTALLY get me the
pink Holga for my birthday! Haha! Then someone else can get me the Multicolour Flash and Fisheye Lens. Or yet another can get me the
White Slim Angel one. Hehe!
Ok I'm just kidding. But I'd really like to try it someday!

P.S. Vignette, did you know that 'vignetting' in photography means that the photo fades at the edges? Haha.
