alright, and here's the moment you have all been waiting for......

I DYED MY HAIR FOR THE FIRST TIME!

i went to Next yesterday morning and consulted the Chief Technician. coincidentally, her name is Liz too! haha. i kinda like her. she makes you feel you're in good hands. literally. she gave me a shade of dark brown, to blend in with my natural hair colour, which is slightly brown. i can't remember what the exact colour is called though. maybe copper something? but i didn't really bother cos i just trusted her to do what was best-suited for me.

she started off by dyeing the hair, but leaving out the roots first. she let that settle for some time cos i think it needs longer for that part of the hair. only after did she dye the roots, cos they take less time to absorb the colour. when she dyed the roots, it started getting a bit itchy, cos the chemicals are in direct contact with your scalp. i was sitting there trying very very hard not to scratch and get my hands dirty. luckily i had my iced tea and magazines to distract me the whole time.

after that i got the very very shiok hair wash. the washes at Next take like, 10 or 15 minutes? they really make you feel super comfortable. rinse, massage, shampoo, massage, condition, massage, rinse again, massage. absolutely wonderful. (plus, the water is warm!)

i did feel a bit self conscious though, cos there were quite a few staff looking at me. it was in the morning so not many customers. haha. i was a bit shocked to see so many people standing at the wash area.

anyway, after the wash, i got my hair blow dried. the stylist gave me curls! yea just by blow-drying. but by night time they wore off. i kinda liked them though. i'm considering doing the same thing for prom.

and of course i took pictures! the colour isn't THAT obvious now, but apparently it'll get lighter as i wash it.

although it was expensive ($105 for long hair, before GST), i like to think that the quality is better than those cheaper salons? plus i like it. i think i'll like it even more as the colour lightens, so it's more noticeable. wallace and elvine thought it was nice. and they say it makes me look older. as in, more mature. in a good way.

yay, me is happy! :)

Saturday, November 22, 2008

oh yes, i forgot to mention that wallace doesn't have to go army anymore. at least not this holiday. he'll be going during his next december break next year.

it's a rather long story, but to cut it short (not just his hair), he was given wrong info and just found out that if you're serving during your hols, you should apply at least 6 weeks in advance. so if he signs up nnow, he won't have time to finish serving the 11 weeks before school starts. so he'll just have to serve next december.

his greatest grievience: he cut his hair for nothing. -.-

anyway if you don't know why wallace has to go back to army, it's cos he deferred before he finished army, in order to start uni in feb. (he was supposed to ORD in april) so he still owes the army 11 weeks and intended to serve it during this holiday. oh well, at least we're BOTH super free now! :)

p.s. i've decided to dye my hair at Next!

updates

sorry for the lack of updates. i've been out every day! no time to blog! so just a few quick updates now.

1. A LEVELS ARE OVER. thursday was my last paper. wow, wearing a uniform for the last time and taking an exam in the hall for the last time... it's still kinda sinking in now - the RELAX mode. NO MORE STUDYING FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 8 MONTHS! except for my driving theory tests of course, which i'll come to later.

2. Post-A Levels: the class went out to celebrate after the bio paper. we watched Body Of Lies starring Leonardo deCaprio. i didn't really like it. it was long and draggy and rather boring. but that's just me. a few of my friends found it nice. in the evening, wallace and i went to Grapevine for dinner! miss that place. love it.

3. yesterday, i signed up for driving! FINALLY! i am SO excited to start. i signed up at Bukit Baotk Driving Center and i just passed my Basic Theory Evaluation today. it's like the "prelims". you gotta pass that before booking the date for the actual test. and guess what, the earliest date i can book my test is...
.
.
.

5th January 2009

WHAT?! that's more than a month away! oh well. in the meantime i'll go for all the lectures (compulsory) and maybe study for Final Theory.

4. went to watch Madagascar 2 with my lifegroup yesterday. it was pretty funny. if you wanna watch it, i think you should. :)

5. EXCITING NEWS: i went for my first fitting yesterday! for my prom gown! it's starting to look really nice. linda (the tailor) says she likes it, plus it was difficult to make. she seems pretty proud of it. she asked me to send her a photo of me in it after prom. haha! wallace says he likes it too. *beams* she's gonna add on some beads for me (FREE cos she likes the gown so much. haha) so my next fitting will be around next tuesday or wednesday. can't wait! (i have pictures but they're not with me now)

so that's pretty much what's been happening so far. oh, and i'm planning to dye my hair pretty soon. hah!

i have been waiting 4 months to say this, and finally i can.

Wallace is BACK!!!

it still feels kind of surreal, not seeing him on a screen anymore, but you can imagine how happy i am right now. however, he's a bit sick so please pray for him!

Photobucket

as you know, he told me he was coming back on sunday night. but i was suspicious he wasn't telling me the truth, because his last exam was on thursday. i didn't think he'd need 2 days to pack. so i thought he'd be surprising me and coming home on saturday night.

now usually the flights are at about 1pm, so he'd reach Singapore at about 8pm. however, on saturday night, he didn't come. he said that the internet was down the whole night and he was out with his friends and would be back late, and said he'd call me. but at midnight he hadn't called and when i called him his phone was off. i guess he was on the plane then. so i went to sleep, hoping i'd see him in the morning.

at 4am, my phone rung. it was him. he told me to look out the window, and there he was downstairs - wallace chin, in the flesh. even though it was 4am and my body was still half sleeping, i went down, half running, half skipping, from the lift to the door where he was, smiling through the glass.

it turns out that he HAD planned to arrive on saturday night, but his flight was delayed by 8 hours. because Qantas was still flying in the parts for the plane. seriously, how ridiculous does that sound. well nonetheless, i guess i did get a surprise in the end. haha. at 4am.

so on sunday we went to church, had lunch with his mum's family, then i met my classmates at a secret place to study. haha. yea it's quiet there but we're not gonna tell anybody lest ppl flock to the place. then we had dinner with wallace's family at forture. yummyy. curry fish head, black pepper crab, cereal prawns, oyster omelette, prawn-paste chicken.... hehe

and after my bio paper yesterday, we went to Next at holland to get his hair cut by Cheryl. muahahahaha.. the day had finally come after 6 long months of growing his hair..

Before:
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

yes, THAT is why he needed a haircut. plus he needs to go back to army so yea.

Photobucket

i wasn't bored at all cos i had a nice ice lemon tea and Vogue and Bazaar on my lap :)

After:
Photobucket

Photobucket

haha i wasn't used to it at first but it's growing on me.

oh oh oh my prom dress is settled! more or less. we went to the tailor yesterday after my bio paper, and i'm going for the first fitting next tuesday. she (the tailor) seems very experienced and professional. she opened her shop in 1985. and she's really funny too. we chose a colour in between ivory and champagne, and the material is silk-satin. price wise, it's $300. but considering it's tailored and made to fit me, it should be worth it. i sure hope it is. can't wait to see it!

alright there'll be more updates in the next post. time to cut cake.
Happy Birthday Abbie! :)

STOMP strikes again

in the light of the ACJC ragging video (mentioned in previous post), a new video has emerged of an SAJC rugger being ragged. this time it involved throwing him in a dustbin (extremely common), rubbing toothpaste onto his genitals, and slamming them against a pole. see here.

the dustbin one is something we see every other day. for goodness sake, wallace's batch was the one who started it in ACJC.

well i know that the whole slamming thing is quite common too. but it just disgusts me. the whole intention of that is to cause pain to the guy. and that is something i really think should not be done, even if it's in the name of fun. i'm pretty sure it's not much "fun" for the birthday boy whose privates are being slammed.

but oh well, boys will be boys and ruggers will be ruggers. (ok sorry for the stereotype. pretty ironic considering my boyfriend is a rugger. but as far as i know, he hasn't had his jewels slammed against a pole. i would be horrified and worried for my future children if he had.)

*edit - and anyway wallace told me that in AC we don't do the genitals crap. the most they do is strip the guy to his underwear and throw him in the dustbin, they never attempt to inflict pain on him.

btw, i'm really thankful for Mrs Kelvyna Chan, our principal, for being such an understanding and gracious mother to all of us. she's the nicest and the best principal i've ever had. i'm serious. she's been wonderful in handling all this and totally doesn't deserve all the criticism about her comments on the incident. she's a godly woman who has earned the love and respect of all of us. i love her!

so everyone in school is talking about the STOMP video

it was on the radio, in the Straits Times, in Today, in the Chinese newspaper... i wouldn't be surprised if it were on TV.

it's currently one of the most viewed articles/videos on Stomp, and, unsurprisingly, has had the most comments.

click here if you're clueless as to what i'm talking about.

i was reading the newspaper today when i saw the article. i first laid eyes on the 2 photos. at the first one, i was like, "that looks like our uniform..." then when i looked at the second photo, i went "wait, that looks like the pull-up bars in our school... hey that's KSL!" (KSL is our discipline master and my geog tutor)

ok seriously, why is everyone making such a big fuss out of it? these kinds of "birthday celebrations" are not uncommon in schools, or even in the army. i'm very sure students in other schools also do wild and outrageous things to birthday girls/guys. the only difference this time was that it was recorded on video and put online.

do the reporters have nothing better to report about? plus the person who wrote that stuff on Stomp - are you kidding me? please. did you ask the birthday girl how she felt? were you personally there to expreience it? obviously you don't understand our AC culture, which is that these things are all in the name of fun and there are no evil/sadistic/cruel intentions whatsoever. obviously the so-called "victim" would be fully aware of that.

you said that "The birthday girl even broke down and cried in the video." what crap! i'm sure a person who is being treated that way would keep quiet and let the people tie her up right. of course she would struggle and scream and squeal. that's only natural. but the fact that she apparently "broke down and cried" is merely your intepretation of the incident. one of the girls in the video happens to be my friend, and for your information, the girl did not cry.

not only that, what's this about "ACJC is a co-ed institution, and whilst this was happening, other male students were around to witness her ordeal." hello? that's why they put on shorts for her before they did it right. or did your eyes not notice yet another thing?

"To say that the victim was not hurt emotionally, nor her image tarnished, and that she would not suffer any negative effects on her would be an outright lie." ummm how about no? maybe because now that everyone has made such a big deal about it, it is.

you're a student, same as us. you think that this has "thoroughly tarnished ACJC’s reputation". well, i only have this to say: i am sure that not every single person who learns about the incident will immediately discard all the positive things about ACJC and think badly of it. will this incident stop people from applying to our school? maybe for a few, but certainly not for the majority. maybe you've experienced something that has left a bad impression of AC on you. maybe you've been rejected by the school, or maybe you're not even old enough to go to a JC. but whatever the case, if you're trying to enhance a so-called "bad reputation" of our school, it's not going to work. as the title of the article states, ACJC is an "elite" school, and there is much more to us than birthday celebrations and play. AC is a great school, and i believe that that is something every ACSian will proudly declare. the AC spirit and our culture is something one would be unlikely to understand, or be able to experience, without having been an ACSian oneself, anywhere else. so if you're not a part of it and you don't understand it, don't go around judging people just based on what you see. as i said before, this is not something uncommon happening in Singapore. so you can go and report about the other 467245896 "humiliating" incidents if you want.

but nevertheless, through it all, we trust in God, that He has a purpose for everything. that's also what sets us apart from other institutions. maybe this incident will bond us a school even more, you never know. but no matter what, blessed be the name of the Lord.

To God Be The Glory, The Best Is Yet To Be.

i watched

6 episodes of America's Next Top Model yesterday. oops!

5 Days

till my baby comes back!

today was Chem Paper 2. it was pretty alright except for the last question, which was killer. plus it was 21 marks. i think quite a few of my answers for that question were wrong. but hopefully the rest of the paper was better. oh dear i'm a bit worried for chem. it hasn't been as good as i'dve liked it to have been. but there's still mcq, and hopefull SPA will pull my marks up. still hope i can get that A!

so, 3 more papers to go, 2 of which are mcq. AH can't wait!

btw, i STILL haven't settled my prom dress. i emailed this tailor on saturday i think, and till now no reply. so i called them and they said they didn't receive any email, so i resent it. but still no reply. sigh. i'll call them tmr. really hope i can settle it soon. nvm, as soon as wallace comes back we'll go hunting. :)

and where is everyone getting their hair and make up done?? i still haven't decided! please tell me if you have any suggestions ok?

i was fiddling with my hair the other day, and this was the result:

Fly Away by Corrine May

"When will you be home?" she asks
as we watch the planes take off
We both know we have no clear answer to where my dreams may lead
She's watched me as i crawled and stumbled
As a child, she was my world
And now to let me go, I know she bleeds
and yet she says to me

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Autumn leaves fell into spring time and
Silver-painted hair
Daddy called one evening saying"We need you. Please come back"
When I saw her laying in her bed
Fragile as a child
Pale just like an angel taking flight
I held her as I cried

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away
ohh...
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

i don't know why i never noticed this song before, but when i heard it that night tears just started flowing down my face after i heard the first 2 lines.

although it's about a daughter and her mother and it was so so touching, the first thing i thought of when i heard the first 2 lines was wallace. it reminded me of every time we have to part at the airport when he goes to australia. it just breaks my heart each time i see him walk away and disappear into the crowd. it breaks my heart how we have to be separated for months apart and can only see each other on a screen every night. i have missed him like i've never missed anyone before. i have missed him until my heart literally aches. i'm tired of missing him. it's so emotionally draining to miss someone, to long for someone, this bad.

1 more week and this torture will be over.

yep and it took 4 ppl to finish it. like in the contest! i'll never forget it, seriously. i still keep the bucket.

Friday, November 07, 2008

with regard to the previous post, i withdraw the request to anyone who wants to watch James Bond, because...

wallace says we're gonna watch Quantum Of Solace with elvine and lynn when he comes back, "after a nice mezzanine dinner, driven in his Gran Turismo"

lucky lucky...

the HELL WEEK is OVER!

Photobucket

i don't think i've posted my A Level Timetable up here before, so TADAH. as you can

see, HELL WEEK is officially OVER!

i'm ECSTATIC.

no more GP, no more Geog, NO MORE MATHS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!

thank God for helping me, and all the rest of us, survive this grueling week. now only 4 more papers to go, half of which are MCQs. 2 papers per week, how slack is that?!

but nonetheless i'll be studying hard! especially for chem after the horrid Paper 3. oh yes, i haven't mentioned - it wasn't that great. i didn't know how to do quite a few questions. oh dear. nevermind, i shall work hard for Paper 1 and 2!

Maths Paper 2 today wasn't as good as Paper 1, especially the pure maths section. but it was still ok. the questions that i couldn't do, the rest of my friends couldn't do as well. *crosses fingers*

speaking of studying, i went back to The Tea Party at Sixth Ave Centre

about 2 Sundays ago. it was great going back there after not visiting for so long!

Photobucket

yes, it's that place with the colourful rainbow sign!

it's a great place to hang out, and i love the lazy and comfy atmosphere. but of course if you need to study, there are proper tables and chairs too. they have games (like Taboo) and magazines, and the upstairs is really cool!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

as the name suggests, they serve LOTS of different kinds of tea. hot or cold, even those exotic kinds you've never heard of before. i had a strawberry flavoured one when i went there that day.

Photobucket

besides drinks, they have proper food like pasta and sandwiches, and fingerfood too. and here comes the most important part - their SCONES, are the best scones i have ever tasted.

they're served to you hot, and the inside isn't tough and bready but warm and soft! plus, they come with home-made strawberry cream cheese. best i've tried. the cranberry and chocolate chip scones are the best.

Photobucket

on the way up to the second storey, they have these brochures/leaflets. they're actually Christian stuff! there are these 1 week Daily Bread things on specific themes too, which i think are great for times when you need special encouragement on a particular area of your life. :)

Photobucket

and lastly, i love it when places have good service. over here, Edward is one of the friendliest guys you have ever met. i'm not sure if he's the owner now cos previously it was some other guy. but now he seems like the resident staff.

anyway, i plan to go back there sometime over the weekend, maybe next week during the weekdays too. can't wait! :)

Random Stuff:

mummy cut kiwi for me the other night when i was mugging :)

Photobucket

these few days i've been craving for Bubble Tea. i don't know why! i know it can be unhealthy and stuff, but i just love it! haha, i never grew out of the craze.

Photobucket

so today, my agenda is to RELAX. yes i need a good break after Hell Week. anyone wants to watch Quantum of Solace? hehe!

random shot of myself today, at home RELAXING. kinda love the white teeth (future dentist!) and improving complexion. haha yay i'm slowly getting less and less pimples. *rejoices* (zero editing ok!)

Photobucket

P.S you can look forward to BIGGER photos like these in the future! i'm uploading them onto Photobucket and not using Blogger whose largest photo size is, well, tiny.

16th Nov

that's the day the the love of my life will be home. and i can't wait.

but he'll be arriving at night, and i've got Bio Paper 3 the morning after, so i won't be able to go to the airport to pick him up. but nonetheless he'll still drop by my place. ah just the thought makes me so excited! i miss him like, like, i can't find enough words to describe how much i miss him..

anyway,

today was Bio Paper 2. it was difficult! like really difficult, harder than prelims! eek! but i didn't leave any blanks, so hope i get enough marks. anyhow i hope the rest of the papers won't be as difficult.

yesterday was Maths Paper 1. it was ok. actually, it was the first maths paper where i completed almost all the questions! yea i think it was the best i've done for a maths paper. (but all the rest of my math exams have gotten a U. so that says quite alot. haha)

oh yes, i forgot to mention on monday that before the Geog paper, KSL, our tutor was giving everyone hugs! super nice and sweet of him, coming down to give us moral support. haha. so yep, that means i got a hug too! and he remembers my name ok! lol. yes, our Discipline Master remembers me! today i met him outside of school after the bio paper, waiting for a cab with some other teachers. he asked how the paper was. oh and he said if i don't get A for geog he'll "pluck out all my hair". yes, those are the exact words he said. haha.

btw, besides having a black F1 Champion, we also have the
first black American President!

and that's a GOOD THING!
congratulations OBAMA. i knew you'd win. :)

MY INTERNET IS BACK!!!

YAY YAY YAY!

after 9 FREAKING DAYS, i have my internet back!!!!

can you believe it? i actually survived 9 DAYS without the internet! that's more than a week! i'm proud of myself. haha.

of course normal ppl wouldn't be THAT affected by their internets being down. but I AM.

you know why?

because i have a BOYFRIEND in AUSTRALIA and i FREAKING MISS HIM!
and what with stress levels sky-rocketing, and falling sick, it's even worse.

WHICH IS WHY I'M SO HAPPY I CAN SEE HIM

NOW!!!

WHEEEEEE!!!

and of course i'm ecstatic about the fact that GP and Geography are OVER.

GEOG IS OVER.

NO MORE GEOG FOR THE REST OF MY ENTIRE

LIFE.

:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

GP
it was ok. for the essay i did the question
"Air travel should be discouraged, not promoted. To what extent do you agree?"
i was so sad no social issues questions came out at all! prepared all that for nothing. :(
the compre was quite hard. it was on history. bleagh. i was rushing to do my AQ cos i spent so long on the Summary! hope i get at least a B.

Geog
i found it ok too. although no mass movement came out at all. and actually alot of the things we studied didn't come out. but i found it alright, except for the last essay. couldn't remember how primate cities are developed! oh well. i'm just glad it's finally over!!!

now i can move on from geog and focus on my H2s. which i think i've been neglecting cos of geog. tomorrow is maths. eek! luckily it's in the afternoon so i have time to practice a bit more.

ok i'm going to video wallace now!

BTW CONGRATULATIONS LEWIS HAMILTON I WILL BLOG ABOUT YOU SOON!

AND I'M STILL OVERJOYED THE INTERNET IS

BACK!!! :D
