Singapore F1 Grand Prix -

World's First Night Race

it was SO EXCITING. and so drama-mama!

1st Place: Fernando Alonso (Renault)

2nd Place: Nico Rosberg (Williams-Toyota)

3rd Place: Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes)

totally unexpected results! everyone was expecting Felipe Massa (Ferrari) to win this one!

for those of you who don't know, for F1, they have many Grand Prixs, and this time, Singapore was host to one of them. the winner of each Grand Prix gets 8 Championship Points, followed by the second driver getting 7 points, the third driver getting 6 points etc. so the first 8 drivers of each GP get points. they accumulate these points over all the GPs, and the driver with the most Championship Points at the end of the season WINS. before this race, Hamilton (78 pts) was leading Massa (77 pts) by 1 point. after Singapore, there are 3 more GPs till the end of the season.

the race started off with Massa in Pole Position (meaning first place), followed by Lewis in 2nd and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) in 3rd. After a crappy qualifier on Saturday, Alonso was stuck in 15th position cos there was something wrong with his fuel system. Rosberg started in 9th place.

in the first few laps, Massa pulled ahead and Lewis fell behind, as Räikkönen caught up with him. then at the first pit stop, DISASTER FOR FERRARI - Massa pulled into the pit to refuel. but the green light went on before the fuel hose was detached from the car, and Massa drove off with the fuel hose still in the car, knocking over one of his mechanics in the process! BIG BIG MISTAKE BY FERRARI. it wasn't Massa's fault - it was the team's. but i'm still laughing. HAHAHA. he had to stop in front and wait for the guys to run over to detach the fuel hose. they were fined (a few thousand dollars i think) and Massa got a drive-through penalty as a result. Massa never recovered from then on - he was last place!

then Nelsinho Piquet (Renault) crashed and this sent out the Safety Cars. (for those of you who don't know, the Safety Cars come out when they have to clear away the car that crashed, and all the other cars have to stay behind the Safety Cars and can't overtake till the Safety Car lights go off. also, the Pit Lane closes. so if the drivers absolutely need a pit stop, they get a 10 second Stop-and-Go penalty) this allowed his team mate, Alonso, to gain ground, as did the rest of the drivers.

Rosberg had to pit stop during that time, and eventually came out in second place. but he gained enough ground such that after suffering the 10 second penalty, he came out in third!

Hamilton went in for another Pit Stop and came out 8th place, after the Massa fueling incident. but he eventually managed to catch up and get into 4th position behind David Coulthard (Red Bull-Renault) he was trying really hard to overtake but couldn't.

then another car crashed and the Safety Cars were brought out again. so Hamilton got to catch up with Coulthard. but in the end i think Coulthard crashed and was Out, putting Hamilton in 3rd place.

then ANOTHER FERRARI DISASTER - Räikkönen who was in 4th or 5th place, CRASHED, putting Ferrari totally out of the running for any Championship points. since Massa was like, way way behind. HAHA i am SO laughing at Ferrari right now (yes as you can see i'm a LEWIS HAMILTON - MCLAREN FAN! and so is megan. hahaha)

so with that, Alonso led by a huge margin, with Rosberg in second and Hamilton in third.

which means, Lewis Hamilton gets 6 points and now has 84 Championship points - 7 points ahead of Massa! YAY! GO HAMILTON! i hope he wins his first Championship Title after narrowly missing out by 1 point to Kimi Räikkönen last year.

i was watching all of this on TV, although prior to this i was really dying to see the race live. but i'm glad i saw it at home so you can see what's really going on throughout the whole race. HAHA i'm SO gonna brag about this to the guys! they're so frustrated they can't be here to witness it (but they're watching it on TV now i think)

Honey, if you're reading this, i think one reason why i've become such a car fanatic is YOU. lol. yes, you with all your CRAZY CAR ADDICTIONS has rubbed off on me. aren't you glad (and proud) that your girlfriend isn't a car noob after all? :)
yan xun and tze kiat came over with supper on friday night. thank you much much! i was quite touched that they came over to visit :) (oh and pass me my bio homework too) i really appreciated it! can you imagine my mum telling yan he was a "gentleman" and to tell his father he's done a good job at raising his son?? (because of this cab incident last saturday) lol. and she remembered tze kiat from the time he came over to discuss the class BBQ thing.

and of course thanks to all the peeps who msg-ed me, asking me if i'm feeling better etc. i am feeling better. haven't had fever since thursday. hopefully it really wasn't dengue. but funnily, these few days i can't seem to focus. and i'm always spacing out when i try to do work. i don't know how to explain it but it just feels like my brain isn't working as good as it used to. i'm quite worried and scared actually. do you think the fever killed/damaged some of my brain cells? A Levels are 1 month away and if it continues to be like this i don't think i can do it! i've spent a few nights worrying about this actually. i've been well since thursday but until now it's still like this...

well looks like they're having fun together!
i didn't manage to get a good shot cos they were all moving around. lol.

actually seeing all 3 of them enjoying themselves together really put a smile on my face. i'm really glad wallace is having some fun with his best buds.

to think about it, they really ARE going to have a lot of fun, knowing the 3 of them. i wish i were there! but that would spoil their male-thingy going on. hahaha.

btw i'm feeling better now. fever was down since yesterday. so hopefully it's not dengue. thanks everyone for your prayers and concern! most of all, thank you God for healing me. :)

Thursday, September 25, 2008

wallace forgot to tell me him and darren are going to Tasmania to visit elvine TOMORROW.

Sun: started to have fever + body ache at night
Mon: fever got worse, didn't go to school
Tues: felt better, so went to school. but fever came back at night
Wed: went to school, but fever was back and my head was throbbing the whole day. was in school till 9.30pm cos of Honours Night. couldn't take it after that, went to see a doctor. basically, he said it might be dengue, considering my symptoms. if the fever persists till fri i'll need to go for a blood test.

wallace finally received the presents i sent to him for our 2nd Anniversary!
i posted them like, 3 weeks ago on 6 September. inefficient post services....

anyway, what i got him were:
1. Puzzle
2. Silk Boxer Shorts
3. Collage

many many thanks to rethinam who helped me add the words. i photoshopped the photo though (lighting only la)

so this was the soft copy of how the puzzle was to look like:

and this is how it turned out!

the colour is less intense in real life though. and it's only 4R size (super small) cos if it were any bigger, the image would be blur. cos the resolution was quite small to start with. BUT it took 1 WEEK to make. sigh!

oh do you know how hard it is to find silk/satin boxers in singapore? i looked online for any information but to no avail. they're extremely rare over here! so frustrating! anyway i won't tell you where i got them cos it's too embarrassing (NO it's not a sex shop if that's what you're thinking. it's somewhere in Orchard though) it's just a normal, solid Teal coloured pair of boxers.

if anyone knows where to find silk boxers in Singapore PLEASE TELL ME!

the collage was actually skyler's idea (yes it was SO HARD to think of a present for wallace cos it's hard to buy clothes/accessories for him, so i was asking ppl for help!) thank you skyler! wallace really liked it :)

2 Years = 730 Days

so i punched out 730 hearts from coloured paper, and arranged all of them into a collage, to represent the 730 days we've been together. :)

surprisingly it didn't take as long as i expected to make.

300 red, 100 blue, 100 yellow, 100 purple, 100 green, 30 pink
doesn't look that much but they're all piled up

and now presenting...

the FINAL PRODUCT!

whee! in case you're wondering how big it is, it's not the normal currogated board size. it's half of that. (you know those plastic boards with the zig-zag stuff in between?)

oh and i laminated it too. using those sticky, roll kinds you buy from Popular. the photo above was taken before lamination cos i didn't want to capture any reflection.

haha i'm quite proud of it! wallace said "its very nice. and i know you def took a long time to do it." i'm glad he appreciates it :)

Happy 2 Years and 3 Weeks babe.

Mama Mia!

watched it today with jon zhang and kegan. it was better than i expected! although some parts were rather cheesy, as expected, (they were breaking out in ABBA songs every few minutes), it was quite enjoyable to watch. i love the ABBA songs by the way! oh and the ending was quite unexpected, but i'm not gonna spoil it for you. i think Peirce Brosnan looked really suave in the show but i wasn't used to seeing him sing! hard to separate him from the James Bond image. haha. Meryl Streep did a great job at her role. and i didn't know Amanda Seyfried could sing so well!

in other words, GO WATCH IT!!

*
*

today in church Jason Long aka BUDD brought Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!!!!

2 whole packs somemore!

i saw them and i was like:
*eyes widened, mouth opened*
*GASP!*

because Reese's are my MOST FAVOURITE CHOCOLATES IN THE WORLD.

despite having gone for the Fullerton's chocolate buffet, and tasting so many chocolates in my lifetime, i've got to say that Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are still my favourite. the only improvement i can think of is to use Dark Chocolate instead of Milk Chocolate so that it's not so sweet. (Dark Chocolate trumps Milk and White for me anytime)

i've had them since i was young, when i was still in Boston. i remember the only times we got to eat them were during Halloween or Christmas. and i just fell in love with them. it was the candy i was always looking forward to when these 2 festivals arrived each year. (although i think the Candy Corn during Halloween was the 1st runner up)

then when we came back to Singapore, Reese's were so hard to find! they used to sell them in Cold Storage but stopped selling them a few years back. then Candy Empire started selling the BIG and flat patty ones. but i didn't buy them often cos they're not very cheap. (and not to mention SO SINFUL!) then i think 2 weeks ago i saw them at The Cocoa Tree at the Plaza Sing basement - which is where jason bought them from. they're really not cheap leh! like, $10 bucks a packet?

so you can imagine how delighted i was when jason gave me 1/4 of the packet!

THANK YOU BUDD!
i'm eternally grateful and i promised i'll buy him the big ones from Candy Empire next time.

take care in camp!

(as you can see i decided to neaten up the top part of my brows. looks different right? haha. painful ok!)

P.S. Wallace finally received the 2nd Anniversary gifts i sent him! photos and details of that in the next post.

i know many of you have been asking me about this post, and have been anticipating it, so sorry for the delay (due to either my com or blogger)
BUT FINALLY, HERE IT IS!

Xia Xue vs Dawn Yang

so. today i'm comparing Xia Xue and Dawn Yang.

as you know, both are two of the most avid and famous female bloggers in Singapore. both have many fans, as well as haters.

i'm NOT judging them, but just giving my opinions on them based on what i know and have researched. i'm no expert though. i'm not some avid fan who tracks their every move!
(many of you have asked me why i'm blogging about this. don't i have anything better to do? well i find this topic particularly interesting. and you can use them as examples in your GP essay! hahaha)

#1 - SUEING
there was a recent issue when Dawn sued Xia Xue for slamming her on her blog. XX criticised Dawn and said bad things about her etc etc. so Dawn sued. but of course XX, being the ever confident and strong-opinioned blogger, refused to apologise but took down the post. although she was criticising dawn, i think she had her own right to post what she wanted on her own blog. dawn has many criticisers besides xx, so why must she sue her? why not just sue everyone else too? well she did mention on her blog that xx has so many readers, and them reading it will give many ppl a bad impression of her. she said she and her manager didn't want to take it lying down. well maybe she just wants to gain more publicity for herself too.

#2 - "Fakeness" & Honesty
although i think that presently, dawn looks prettier, she HAS done major plastic surgery. her past photos and her present photos are crazily different. but yet she doesn't admit she's gone under the knife. when asked, she said she has changed compared to the past, but didn't specifically mention that she's had plastic surgery. c'mon, it's SOOO obvious! there's a youtube video highlighting photos where her chin and forehead implants, as well as her nose job are pretty obvious. i also realise that her eyes are rather vacant most of the time. may be an effect of the plastic surgery.
xx on the other hand, has had a nose job, and some botox (i think) and lip injections and has been completely open about it. she blogged about her nose job, and it was even telecast on one of the Girls Our Loud episodes. see the difference? although i personally disapprove of plastic surgery, i appreciate xx's honesty with the public, unlike dawn. if you've done it, just say you've done it! it's even worse when you try and cover up these kind of things cos ppl might end up criticising you even more.
oh and PLUS Dawn has plagarised plagarised plagarised many of her forum posts, advertorials and posts. as an excuse, she said she "didn't know plagarising was wrong". HOW STUPID IS THAT!!

#3 - Photoshopping
xx does admit that the photos she posts of herself on her blogged are photoshopped. not just the lighting and colour, but making herself appear prettier and slimmer in the photos. however she is once again completely open about this. check out Xiaxue's Guide To Life: EP14 - Photoshop where she even teaches and shows viewers how she photoshops her photos. thus she says you shouldn't believe what you see on the internet, which is true. furthermore, she actually does admit that she's ugly! this is in her post "Xiaxue = All Make Up" dated 2003. i actually think her argument was pretty convincing and substantiated and i kinda agree with her.
ok but for dawn i don't know whether she photoshops her photos. ppl say, however, that "xiaxue is pretty because of photoshop. dawn yang is pretty because of surgeries". lol.

#4 - Writing Skills
but one cannot judge a book by it's cover. so of course looks aren't everything. they are, essentially, bloggers.
for one, i think dawn attracts readership from her pretty photos. in fact, she became a famous because she was pretty, not majorly from her writing. she blogs less than 10 posts a month maybe? she doesn't even write much, and her posts consist mainly of pictures. however, i won't discount her from the fact that she's still intellectual. she's now in New York University doing an undergrad degree, and she sometimes posts self written poems on her blog. although, i do feel that dawn's not very personal and quite an elusive character. she speaks with an accent and declared herself as an Eurasian wannabe. i guess these are one of the many reasons why ppl call her "fake" (not just because of the surgery)
i feel that xia xue is a good writer. despite her many vulgarities and often crude and offending writing style, she still writes good stuff about current issues, controversial issues, interesting issues, and many a times she's really funny too! sometimes i laugh out loud when reading her posts. LOL. literally... her posts are entertaining, engaging and enjoyable to read. the three Es! haha. plus, she's very relatable to Singaporeans. she speaks Singlish but speaks (and writes in) good English nonetheless. (i would love to add more, but that would make me sound extremely biased) oh and she's not that dumb either! she got 269 for PSLE! she went to SP but regretted not going to JC and Uni.

#5 - Professionalism
i feel that Dawn is more professional than XX. Dawn had the Stomp! gig and although she had mixed reviews, she still gained a significant amount of readership/viewership. and she completed her job nonetheless. however we certainly can't forget the plagarism issue....
XX on the other hand, used to be part of Stomp's panel of Star Bloggers, but was fired due to her unprofessionalism, failing to meet her obligation of being available for a one-hour online chat every Wednesday. tsk tsk... for anyone, no matter how famous or high status you are, you should always commit 100% to everything that you do, and be responsible in your duties. so that's a no-no for xiaxue. it's only 1 hour a week some more!

#6 - Religion
Dawn professes to be a Christian and goes to church every sunday. during her Stomp! introduction video, when asked what are the things she loves about life the most, she mentioned God first! however many criticise her of not behaving like a Christian, as being a "fake Christian". as a believer myself, i've seen and known many people who are just "Sunday Christians" i.e. they go to church on sundays but don't act like one on other days. true, some of dawn's actions do in fact, lead us to think she's one of those Christians (through her plastic surgery, clubbing, partying etc. and of course the fact that she admitted to sleeping with HK big shots to become a star, but failed to achieve that nonetheless) but i guess we shouldn't judge just by what we see. there could be a totally different and better side of Dawn Yang that the public doesn't see/recognise? .......
for XX, she isn't a Christian. in fact, i don't think she believes in any religion at all. she once blogged about Christianity in her "belated Xmas post" and, well, she didn't paint a very good picture of the religion. one of the things she said (among the many negative ones) was "I have heard somewhere, correct me if I am wrong, that Christians are supposed to convince everyone they know to convert." Wow! wonder who told her that. to clarify, yes Christians are supposed to share the Good News with everyone, but not against someone's own will. which is why i sometimes disapprove of people who evangelise in the streets, in orchard. at times, instead of sharing the Gospel with them, they can actually scare people away, deter them from further listening to any evangelistic stuff, or even give them a bad impression of Christians. btw i really disagree with some of her views on religion (and on some other issues for that matter)
but anyway my point is that naturally, i would side the Christian. but that would be very biased of me. just because Dawn says she is a Christian doesn't mean she's automatically better than XX. and just because you're not a Christian doesn't mean you're not a good person either! so on this matter, since i don't know Dawn personally to see how she is as a person, it's still a level playing field for them both! (but i still think dawn is fake)

well that's more or less what i have to say. i hope this has given you a better idea of these 2 bloggers, and given you some insight as to how the two match up! of course everyone is different, and to each his own. both have their strengths and flaws, and are unique in their own ways. but for now, my conclusion is......

i'm in the process of preparing a post on Singapore's 2 most famous female bloggers! (no prizes for guessing who) but it'll take a few days, so stay tuned!
had dinner with Wallace's family yesterday! it was nice having dinner with them again after so long. actually this was the first time i was having dinner with them without Wallace being around. there were 7 of us - his parents, winston and his gf shermin, william and his gf from myanmar (forgot her name). so as you can see i was the only one without a partner but oh well.

we went to Jackson Miller at the Singapore Swimming Club!

previously i've only been there once, when wallace decided to give a treat to elvine and lynn. it's quite a posh restaurant. (they serve sorbet after the soup/salad to cleanse your palate) and their service is good. i always appreciate that. :) they have a free flow of bread too! haha. prices for the main courses are around $30 and above.

yesterday they were having an Angus Grain-Fed Beef promotion! it comes with soup/caesar salad. they had it in Tenderloin ($38), Ribeye ($36) or Sirloin ($32). 150g per serving. which is actually quite small but the quality is gooood. so most of us took the Tenderloin, while winston took the ala carte Tenderloin (which was 250g) and his mum took a fish dish. wow the Tenderloin was actually quite good! it was really tasty! the difference between it and normal steak is considerably great.

oh and we had a complimentary birthday cake cos it's wallace's dad's birthday month. quite cute cos before that the table behind us had a birthdya cake too and they were singing/whispering the birthday song (cos obviously you can't belt it out at the top of your lungs in such a restaurant). and so we did the same too! haha.

actually SSC is a great club. if you're a member, your kids will have automatic membership. and when they turn 21, you just need to upgrade about $3000 for them to become adult members (which is what wallace's mum did yesterday for him) then their kids will have membership as well. the only difference from other clubs is that it doesn't have golf. so if you don't play golf, it's perfect for you! you pay less and use the same range of facilities. i've been there quite a few times to swim and for meals. i would love being a member there. the only drawback for us westies is that it's in the east.

they should pay me for publicity.

Sports Facilities:
2 Olympic Sized Swimming Pools
Badminton Courts
Billards (3 Snooker tables and 1 Pool table)
10-Lane Bowling Alley
Gym
4 Squash Courts
6 Table-Tennis Tables
Tennis Courts
2 Fitness Studios

General Facilities:
Barber Shop
Jacuzzi/Sauna/Steam Room (very nice! but men's and women's separated)
Library (not a bad place to study)
Lucky Strike Jackpot (lol never been there before though)
Mahjong Room
Sports Pro Shop
Cyber Cafe
Video Games Room

Wine & Dine:
besides Jackson Miller, they have a sizeable range of foods, from Chinese to Japanese to Local Fare.
in the evenings they have outdoor BBQ food like stingray, ribs, pork knuckles etc. quite yummy. the ambience is really nice too cos it's by the pool and it's cooling and breezy. great after an afternoon of swimming/other sports. i like the poolside bar too. it's a great place to relax after you've showered and freshened up (although i always order the mocktails. haha)

oh yes and they have all those activities that clubs have and sometimes they have mini Bazaars!

view from 2nd level. sorry about the blurness. camera phones don't work that well in the dark.

celebrated Char's birthday last Saturday. Happy Sweet Sixteen! :)

oh and winnie if you're wondering, that's
me in the fun-o-rama shirt,
charmaine (sec 4) in white,
abbie (sec 2) in green and
megan (pri 3) in navy blue.

was pretty confident for bio so was quite expected.

Chem - C (or maybe D)
the "maybe D" is because i'm not sure if they'll include SPA and calculate using the actual A Level weightages for the different papers. and my worst paper (paper 3) was the paper with the highest weightage. so if they do calculate like that, it'll be a D. if i just add everything together and convert to 100%, it's a C. i was quite disappointed nonetheless. i hoped to get at least a B for chem. i guess it was time management and i didn't know how to do some questions.

Maths - U
quite expected. it was really bad. i think majority of the cohort got a U. even jas and joe got E! if they don't do well, we have no hope. but still, this is no excuse. i really need to work very hard on my maths if i want to get at least a B for A Levels.

Geog - B
SO FRUSTRATED COS I MISSED AN A BY 1 MARK! 69/100. technically it's half a mark. because for geog they don't count in half marks. but if in a question, you get two "half mark"s, it'll be added up to 1 mark and be counted. unfortunately, for the very last section of the paper, i got a half mark, and there was no other half mark to add it up to a 1 mark! so the half mark wasn't counted and i got 69!!! if i had just half a mark more for that question i would have gotten an A! :( but anyway i'm still contented with it la. i know for A levels i'm quite confident of getting an A.

GP - E
this was quite surprising and disappointing cos i usually get Bs or Cs. it was cos the Comprehension was quite tough. i failed it by 1.5 marks. but luckily my Essay (it was about marriage. haha!) pulled me up to an E.

so overall, before moderation, my grades are:
A C U B E
(3 H2s, followed by Geog and GP)

after we were dismissed from class the CF comm (plus joshua, excluding jack) somehow all gathered in the void deck. i actually had a really great feeling about that. like all of us just naturally coming together! but of course the main reason was cos we were going for CF after that. lol. but still, i really felt a sense of togetherness and belonging. :)

went for CF after a really long time today. and i really miss it so much! the worship, the fellowship, the meals, the talking together about anything and everything. i love it!

i think the thing i'll miss most when i leave AC is CF :)

2SC9 CLASS PHOTOS 2008!

i love all of them! (except for 2 where i look funny, but nevermind - you didn't hear that)

i love how some of us look so natural

one of my favourites :)

yay i love 'em! alot better than the ones we took last year. a pity we couldn't include them in the class page (unfair! all the classes who haven't submitted can put them in!)

anyway, we're going for Prom together as a CF Comm! along with wallace! oh my so exciting! wallace and i have been racking our brains to think of and look for a gorgeous prom dress.
any suggestions?? (PLEASE NO DANIEL YAM)
we could either look online, in stores, or custom make. although custom would be REALLY ex. and i'm NOT going to wear black! common-est colour ever! i guess i could go look at Warehouse and Bebe.. not sure where else to look though!

i found this site: http://www.houseofbrides.com
haha yes i know you're looking at the name but they have Prom Dresses as well. and from many many brands - just scroll down and look at the number of Featured Designers they have!
(House of Brides is the oldest bridal name in America and was established in 1929)

i quite like this one from Aviena:

the description says:
"Style 2394 is in Charmeuse Satin. This spaghetti strap dress features a modified V-neckline, lace up back, beading and ruching down the front and a tiered mermaid with a side slit.
Shown in Gold and Light Coffee."

BUT it's US$223! and i don't think i'm gonna risk that amount of money to buy a dress that i haven't even tried on. that's the downside of buying things online - you never know if it'll fit just right. haiz. well i think i'll go looking in town this sunday for anything that catches my eye :)

First Day Of Term 4

we got new timetables! mine's alright. i end at 2.30pm on mondays, 1.50 pm for tuesdays and wednesdays, and 12.50pm for thursdays and fridays. haha the week just gets better!

one of the interesting things today was that Mdm Tham was in a rather good mood during Bio lesson. she started off by thanking the class for all the cards and gifts from Teachers' Day, saying that she was expecting all of us to just run wild after our last paper on thursday, but instead we baked, made presents, wrote cards etc. for our teachers to give to them the next day. haha. well we still went out and had fun anyway. then at the end of the lesson she said that it's going to be quite a tiring term, so she thought she'd give us some energy-giving food. and she started handing out Kit-Kats!

haha that was quite unexpected of Mdm Tham but i really appreciated it. i could tell she was very grateful and touched by our gifts, cards and well wishes on Teacher's Day. perhaps this is a reminder to her of why she continues to teach even after so long.

then after class she came up to me and handed me a small purple envelope and told me with a smile to pass this to wallace. i looked at her in surprise and just went "sure, thanks!"

when i looked at the envelope, it said "To Elizabeth & Wallace". i sorta knew then that it was a response to our gift to her for Teacher's Day (refer to teacher's day gifts post on 29th Aug) i couldn't wait to read what was inside!

(p.s. i sms-ed her to correct my mistake about the telomeres!)

(is that a hint that she wants more presents? hmm..)

haha is Mdm Tham one of the nicest Bio teachers ever or what! so as you can see, despite her being the ex Discipline Mistress of ACJC and being so prim and proper and politically correct, she can actually be really friendly and funny once you get to know her. she's made jokes quite a few times during class and made us laugh really hard! it's always enjoyable to be in her class, really.

well on a separate note, i finally collected my CF shirt today. COOL right? haha now it looks like we're some kind of sports cca...

oh yes. i got 20/40 for chem mcq and 30/40 for bio mcq. bleagh. i'm a bit dissapointed i guess. i just hope my other papers will help pull my mcq up! *crosses fingers*

alrighty, think i'm going to meet tze kiat and yan xun to study at guthrie soon. toodles! :)

so as i feared, there is no internet at the chalet wallace is staying in. boo hoo! :( well at least he still has his phone to call and sms.

i just recalled something today on the way home.

you know in singapore when you wait for a bus at the bus stop, and often times buses can arrive 2, 3 or even 4 at a time. so, what if your bus is, say, the second or third bus in line. how do you flag it down such that the first bus driver doesn't think you're flagging his bus? well here's the answer - it all depends on how high you raise your arm.

yep that's right. and i learnt this from a bus driver when he mistakenly stopped for us instead of the bus we were flagging for after school one day. the higher you raise your arm, the further away the bus you're flagging. so if you raise you arm horizontally, 90 degrees, means you're flagging the first bus. a liitle higher, the second bus. even higher, the third.

haha i never noticed this until the bus driver told us. but after thinking about it, i think it's kinda true right? we usually lift our arms higher for a bus that's further away.

lol just some food for thought... :)

so yesterday and today i watched 2 more movies!

yesterday met the CF comm and Mdms for lunch at Cafe Cartel at PS. then we decided to watch Cyborg She (upon skyler's persuasion).

it was an alright Jap movie for me. not excellent but ok. after that skyler and vig needed to shop for some stuff, so me and dillon accompanied them. we walked from PS to Taka to Far East. i didn't buy anything for myself, but i did get to buy someone's birthday present!

today i forced myself to wake up early at 8.15, all for cycling/rollerblading at East Coast with the classmates. met yan xun at his bus stop, then took a bus to meet tze kiat at his bus stop, and took another bus to parkway parade. met Yini, Joe, Tan Ghee, Hubert there. then we went to meet Winnie at east coast park. tan ghee and i rented rollerblades while the rest cycled. haha i guess cos i'm better at rollerblading and i prefer it to cycling anyway. although it's much more tiring over long distances than cycling. we left the rental shop at 11.30 am. we got back at 2.45 pm. that's like, 3 hours! we travelled from the rental shop (near Macs and Coffeebean) all the way to the end of east coast park! we were near changi. could see the planes up close! we took a few breaks now and then, but tan ghee and i were just dying trying to catch up with the rest. it was SO tiring. my legs were like jelly after that. joe estimated that we travelled about 20km. 10km there and 10km back. CRAZY! i've never bladed for so long in my entire life!

then ShuQi joined us and we had lunch at this interesting Turkish place which was super overpriced and the food wasn't even all that nice. went to Gelare after that. hung out there for awhile, chatting, playing cards. then we decided to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

so all of us (except shuqi) cabbed to Kallang Leisure Centre where i was quite scared we wouldn't be able to get tickets since all of us weren't 18 yet (especially after the last failed attempt at watching the show during last thursday's class outing. bad experience.) but in the end we managed to watch it successfully, despite the men having to come into the cinema after the show had started to check our ICs. luckily they went by year. phew! success at last! the movie wasn't that great actually. wallace said he found it really funny when he watched it in Australia. hmm maybe they censored some parts? i thought some parts were funny, but overall it wasn't fantastic.

i had quite alot of fun for today's outing. even though it was only a few of us, i think we all enjoyed spending the time together :) thanks to yan xun and tze kiat for organizing it! i hope the rest of the class doesn't take it the wrong way. we asked some others but they couldn't make it. and as for the rest, we figured that they wouldn't really wanna go so we didn't ask them.

haha and we all got sunburnt today! for me, only selective parts of my body are red. my face and neck are red. and since i was wearing a tshirt, i have a distinct line between the reddish and normal coloured skin on my upper arm. and since i was wearing fbts and rollerblades (which go up till my calves) only a portion of my thighs are red. LOL. i feel like some unevenly baked chicken??!!

anyway, wallace is going to Goldcoast from tomorrow till sunday for the physio research programme retreat. i REALLY hope they have internet access there if not i won't be able to see him for 3 days! :(

A Very Happy Day

i went to pick up the packages (aka anniversary presents!) from Wallace's house today. 2 big parcels from VS! i couldn't wait to open them when i got home. the first package contained the stuff that we ordered together (i.e. i knew about them) the second package was a surprise. amongst other things, was the pair of pink Colin Stuart flats from VS that i wanted, but wallace said they "ran out of stock".

as i was opening the packages, i couldn't stop smiling. i think by then i was already tearing up! and then came to the card (aka long letter), which is always the killer (to the tear ducts, that is). the card had 4 parts. the card itself (very cute), a photo of him, the 1 page letter (written on ACJC foolscap, no less) and the checklist, shown below. (number 1 to 4 were received earlier on)

haha i think we've had too much exam stress, hence the "result slip". but i must say that the value of gifts doesn't depend on their monetary price. rather, it's the sincerity behind the giving of that gift, and the thought and effort taken to give it. so honey, whether the clothes exceeded $100 or not, your gifts will ALWAYS pass with flying colours. i will always like whatever you buy for me, and i know you will too. :)

so in the order that i read them...
Card - so sweet, streams flowing down my face
Photo - so cute, lakes flowing down my face
Long Letter - what can i say, rivers flowing down my face
Checklist - i don't know why but i found this the sweetest thing ever, waterfalls flowing down my face

why do i cry so much? i think it's just cos i'm a hopeless romantic and these things just hit a soft spot in my heart. just how girls always cry at happy endings, or when a man proposes in the most romantic setting ever to the woman of his dreams. haha i don't know how to explain it. but recently i've been crying more easily. not necessarily in a bad way. but like when i listen to one love song, can cry already. haha. don't know why but maybe it's more emo? or just that i'm missing wallace so much...

well going back to the presents, that wasn't the end of it. when he came online just now, he told me to close my eyes, so i did. when he told me to open them, he was holding a guitar. (just kill my tear ducts right now) and he started singing Like Only A Woman Can by Brian McFadden and i just started bawling my eyes out like nobody's business (worse than the previous waterfall) i posted the song
on my blog a few weeks back (August 9th) and if you take a look at the lyrics, when he sung it to me just now, he repeated the last chorus but replaced the word "she" with "you". so basically it was like:

You changed my life
You cleaned me up
You found my heart
Like only my woman can
You pull me up
When you know I’m sad
You know your man
Like only my woman can

wow can you believe how much i cried? honey why do you make me cry so much? haha, i'm kidding.
i love you. thank you babe.

and in case you're wondering where are the presents i sent to him, well, he's recieved my card already. but i haven't sent over the gifts yet. reason being the ****** will only be ready for collection on friday. so until he recieves ALL the gifts (i'm gonna send them all together once the ****** is ready), photos of those will have to wait!

HAPPY 2 YEARS BABE!!!

I can't believe we're past the 2 year mark!
It seemed like yesterday that we were celebrating our 1 year at Sentosa. I remember wearing the Chaos dress, getting the fake tatoos, the Cable Car rides to the Jewelbox and the movie at Suntec! (i think it was Evan Almighty?) Well we're finally 2 years dear, and I've been waiting for this for so long! It's been 2 years replete with the inevitable fights, tears and sorrows, but those being shadowed by the fun, laughter, joy, warmth and love that we've shared each day. I've been blessed for the past 730 days because I've had you by my side. Thank you for loving me for who I am, for putting up with my inadequacies, for being there for me no matter what, for making my problems seem smaller each time, for wiping away my tears, for making me smile, for being there for me no matter what, for lighting up my life, and just for being you. I love you Wallace, regardless of your weaknesses, regardless what other people think of you and of us. I love you for you, and nothing else. You're the only one who has, who is, and who will always be in my heart. Forever and ever babe. We're going to make it honey, and we're going to have our happily ever after.
Here's to being in love for 2 years, and many more to come.
